Lonestar Nurse Mares, I can't say enough positive things about them, they are absolutely amazing! Within 2 hours from the time I called them they had a great mare here for our orphan. The mare has been wonderful with the baby in every respect! Being in the horse business for over 50 years I would certainly recommend them to anyone who needs them!

Sweet baby Bodhi met his nurse mama "Texas" last night. She accepted him right away and will care for him til he is ready to be weaned. He has done surprisingly well through this tragedy and transition. Thank you, Lonestar Nurse Mares. I am so grateful for your prompt response and professionalism.

Highly recommend this place. We got an amazing nurse mare for our little girl. She was super patient and nurturing. Easy to handle and just a real pleasure to have. The owners were so nice as well, very professional yet caring. And their facility is stunning! The mares live like queens when they're not rented out.

Tuesday night my mare gave birth to a feisty filly. Sadly, the next day she colicked and had an intestinal torsion (aka twisted gut). She declined so quickly and severely that she had to be euthanized. That sucked and still sucks to lose this mare. She was such a good mare to her foal. Thanks to Lonestar Nurse Mares, I was able to find a new momma. These people were absolute rockstars and showed up at midnight with a mare. Within an hour, they had been introduced and my filly nursing. New momma, Phoenix or Nix is a professional and has settled right in. I have affectionally named her Route 66 (see her id collar) as she took the road to get here so she can help raise a baby.

Foaling out can be stressful, especially if you’re new to breeding, as I am. This year, we chose Maryann and Alex to foal out our mare. We couldn’t be happier with that decision. They were easy to communicate with and sent me updates on major progress. Then naturally, I had to go out of town and that’s when my mare foaled. Maryann was great about FaceTiming me and keeping me updated on the progress. It was a very smooth process. Then, when there was a medical issue, she communicated with me and we came up with a plan. She was able to take her to the vet and handle that for me, as again, I was out of town. The process has been wonderful and the care for my mare and foal has been outstanding. They’re personable and really care for the mares and foals. I would absolutely recommend and would use again in the future.

We are a large thoroughbred foaling facility and every year we encounter unfortunate situations that are beyond our control. This year that happen to be the losing a very nice broodmare hours after foaling. We desperately searched for a nurse mare in our area. We were told to check out Lonestar Nurse Mares they are the BEST! We called that evening and by the next day we had the most beautiful kindhearted sweetest nurse mare Penelope showed up. Let me tell you she is a dream come true and the transition could not have went any smoother. She immediately at first sight of her new adopted foal started nickering and began licking her as the baby went right to nursing! I would take a thousand more Penelope! We highly highly recommend Lonestar Nurse Mares! Their staff is absolutely amazing, and they sent us some awesome caps that we are proud to wear around!

I want the horse people to know how awesome Lonestar Nurse Mare’s were for me on the day that my mare gave birth and prolapsed really really bad. We thought we were going to loose her. We finally got her up and when she knew we were trying to save her life and she saw the trailer, she ran straight for it and jumped in. She lost sooo much blood. Got her to the vet and they immediately took over and saved her life. Being in the horse world when you post something on social media, immediately everyone is helping. Knowing the mare was good but still not out of the woods and didn’t want to stress her anymore than she already was, we had to find a mare for this new baby. Poor guys first hours of life were traumatic . Couple things fell through until someone recommend Lonestar Nurse Mare’s. They were actually in my area at the time (or close to it), they were so easy to work with. Sent me a contract to my email, I signed it and sent back and they went home and delivered sweet Mable to the vet clinic within a couple hours.

As an equine veterinarian breeding and foaling several mares per year, the unfortunate reality of the business is losing mares, and the resultant orphan foals. It's heart breaking for the owners and all involved. Scrambling to find a nurse mare often happens at the worse possible time. I highly recommend Lonestar Nurse Mares. Lonestar takes the business of providing a good match nurse mare to your foal seriously. They were prompt, reliable and courteous. Grafting the orphan foal to Willow went seamless. Willow is such a patient, kind mother. I had the best experience with Lonestar Nurse Mare and refer clients to them regularly.

Huge thank you and strong endorsement for Lonestar Nurse Mares, Maryanna & Alex. Foaling can be hard. We had a wonderful recipient have an explosive birth, ruptured her uterine artery and died within 5 minutes never having seen her beautiful colt. Lonestar Nurse Mares brought us a big, beautiful mare full of warm milk in less than 2 hours, and she bonded to him easily. They do not produce discarded foals in their business model but rather bring a nonpregnant mares into milk with a medical protocol and then milk them 5 times a day until they are needed. Precious business providing a needed and humane service for the horse industry. I hope people reading this never need a nurse mare but if you do, please consider Lonestar Nurse Mares. A heartfelt thank you Maryanne and Alex. You are both angels for breeding managers and mare owners alike.

We have been working with Lonestar Nurse Mares, LLC since their inception. Prior to having this convenience, finding good quality nurse mares was not only difficult, but also stressful for our staff and clients. Now, having the opportunity to work with Alex and Maryann, we can provide a sense of stability to our clients and patients in their time of need. Lonestar Nurse Mares, LLC is a truly professional operation. Their mares always make great mothers to their foals, are very accepting, and have provided exceptional nourishment to the often sick neonates who we are treating. Alex and Maryann are always readily available and timely with their delivery. I highly recommend Lonestar Nurse Mares, LLC to all our clients.
